The former chief of a big Gotham fund firm has signed on to advise a nearby market intelligence startup. (And he's also putting his money where his advice is.)

Today,
Jens Nordvig, co-founder and CEO of
MarketReader,
confirms that
Art Steinmetz is
joining the New York City-based firm's advisory board. Nordvig,
Web Begole, and
Evan Schnidman co-founded MarketReader last year.
Nordvig lauds Steinmetz as "very well respected among financial advisors in the US, ... a key target audience for MarketReader."
"Art's network and support for MarketReader's go-to-market efforts will help accelerate our reach among this important and very large audience," Nordvig states.
"I love tools that help advisors and their clients make better informed decisions," Steinmetz
writes in a LinkedIn post. "MarketReader adds a lot of signal to cut through the noise. I've followed Jens Nordvig's analytic work for literally decades. I'm honored to help them out and, yes, I'm an investor."
Steinmetz, who is also based in the Big Apple, is a private investor who previously spent 33 years with OppenheimerFunds,
rising to
fixed income CIO, to overall CIO, to
president, and then to
CEO, until OpFunds was
acquired by
another fund firm in
2019. Earlier he worked with Paine Webber as an analyst. He is an alumnus of Columbia Business School and of Denison University.
