A number of asset management industry insiders died in 2023. Here are several of the fundsters the industry lost this year:

Sig Segalas, former president, chief investment officer, and large cap growth portfolio manager of
Jennison Associates;
Dan Wheeler, the founder of
DFA's financial advisor services group;
Stephen Humphrey, an ex-Chase and Lord Abbett PM who later shifted to wealth management; and
Jack Granahan, co-founder of
Granahan Investment Management.
Also, in January 2023 news broke that
Ed Owens, a veteran former
Wellington Management portfolio manager who PMed a
Vanguard fund,
died in November 2022.
