A $251B-AUM AM Adds a Global Equity Fund

The team at a $251.3-billion-AUM (as of June 30), Swiss multinational asset manager is rolling out another actively managed, open-end mutual fund on this side of the pond.

Yesterday, Ramiz Chelat, a portfolio manager at Vontobel Asset Management, and Matthew Benkendorf, chief investment officer of Vontobel's quality growth team, unveiled the launch of the Vontobel Global Equity Fund. The new fund is a series of the Advisors' Inner Circle Fund II.

The Vontobel Global Equity Fund comes in three flavors: A shares (VNGAX), with an expense ratio of 98 basis points; Y shares (VNGYX), with an expense ratio of 73bps; and institutional shares (VNGIX), with an expense ratio of 58bps. All three share classes bake in a 51bps fee waiver promised through April 30, 2026.

Vontobel AM serves as investment advisor to the Vontobel Global Equity Fund. The new fund's PM team incldues Benkendorf and Chelat, both of whom are managing directors.

Chelat describes the team powering the new fund "as high-conviction, active investors."

"Given the current economic climate of persistent inflation and a heightened sensitivity to interest rate signals, we focus on businesses that exhibit high and steady profitability, resilient business models, and strong growth Potential," Chelat states.

Benkendorf puts the launch in the context of Vontobel efforts "to help clients achieve their financial goals."

"We challenge conventional wisdom, unmerited champions, and complacent assumptions," Benkendorf states. "We deploy strict discipline and rigor with the aim to discover genuine quality and deliver enduring returns with lower risk for our clients."

The new mutual fund's other service providers include: Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. as custodian; Ernst & Young LLP as independent accounting firm; Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP as counsel; SEI Investments Distribution Co. as distributor; and SS&C Global Investor & Distribution Solutions, Inc. as dividend disbursing agent and transfer agent.
