In February 2004, Illinois-based Calamos Investments launched the Calamos Strategic Total Return Fund, which became one of the larger closed-end fund IPOs, raising more than $2 billion. State Street Corporation announced on Thursday that it had been selected to provide accounting and administration services for the fund. A spokesperson said it was an expansion of its existing relationship with Calamos.

Calamos offers two other closed end funds and eight mutual funds.
