David Poiesz joined
OppenheimerFunds as senior vice president and head of the firm's Growth Equity Investments group as of Tuesday. Poiesz will also be the lead portfolio manager of the $1.6 billion Oppenheimer Growth Fund.
As head of the fund firm's growth group, Poiesz reports to
Kurt Wolfgruber, chief investment officer.
Poiesz's growth team is made up of 15 investment professionals, said spokesoman Gregory Stitt. In total, the team manages more than $18 billion in eight mutual funds, sub-advised funds, and funds composed of variable accounts.
Poiesz fills the vacancy left by Bruce Bartlett, who left OppenheimerFunds last year. Alan Gilston, vice president and portfolio manager, filled in as head of the growth group in the interim. Gilston now reports to Poiesz.
Prior to joining OppenheimerFunds, Poiesz was a managing director and senior portfolio manager of Merrill Lynch's Global Technology Fund.
