Northern Trust Global Investments has hired John Cole to head its active equity growth investments team, according to a release.

Cole will also manage the firm's investment strategies in the growth equity area as well as the team of managers and analysts in that strategy.

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Cole was a managing director and chief operating officer of Lincoln Equity Management in Chicago.
