Former Represenatative from California Chris Cox (R, Newport Beach) was sworn in as chairman of the SEC on Wednesday.

Cox's longtime acquaintance Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan performed the swearing-in ceremony.

"It is an honor to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission, and to be sworn in by so wise and able a champion of America’s capital markets," said Cox said.

Cox reports for his first day at the SEC on Thursday. He is slated to address the SEC staff.
