Speculation that
Janus is the next bidder for U.K.-based
Amvescap caused shares of Amvescap to rise 10p to 377.5p, reports the
Guardian.
It was not clear from the Guardian article where the rumors were coming from. Janus spokeswoman Shelley Peterson said that Janus does not comment on rumors or speculation.
In July, Amvescap's board turned down a bid from Canada's
CI Financial, which still reserves a right to bid should a competitor step up, reports the Guardian. After that failed bid attempt, Amvescap promptly hired Franklin Resources CEO
Martin Flanagan in a move that some thought indicated the firm was not for sale.
