Janus Capital has plans for a new series of risk-based fund-of-funds called Janus Smart Portfolios. The Denver, Colorado-based fund company has
filed to launch a three-fund series that would invest in other Janus funds.
The long-term asset allocation range for the Smart Portfolio - Growth is 80 percent equities and 20 percent bonds or cash equivalents. The Moderate portfolio is 60 percent equities, 40 percent bonds and cash; and the Conservative portfolio is 40 percent stocks, 60 percent bonds and cash.
Total expense ratios for the funds were not yet listed in the filing, but management fees were set at five basis points, in addition to underlying fund expenses. Minimum investments in the funds are $2,000.
Janus managers plan to continually monitor asset class allocations, rebalance portfolio allocations quarterly, and review asset class exposure on a semiannual basis, with the use of a third-party consultant, according to the filing.
