Reuters reports that a New York state lawsuit accusing insurer Liberty Mutual of rigging bids and paying kickbacks to brokers can go forward after a state judge denied the insurer’s attempt to dismiss it. The case was brought by the infamous
Eliot Spitzer.
The judge ruled that Spitzer lacked jurisdiction over the Boston-based parent company, Liberty Mutual Holding Co. Inc., but said the attorney general's office does have jurisdiction over nine subsidiaries that were named in the suit.
If you're keeping score that's Spitzer: 1, Liberty Mutual: 0. Stay tuned.
