Vanguard's new ETF offering (see
"Vanguard Adds International ETF," May 21, 2007) is laying down a pricing gauntlet for Barclays Global Investors.
MarketWatch reports that Vanguard's new ETF tracks the Morgan Stanley Capital International's Europe, Australasia, Far East Index, better known as "EAFE." Barclay's iShares MSCI EAFE Index Fund which tracks the same index charges an expense ratio of 35 bps compared with Vanguard's 15 bps.
