Accessor Capital Management, founded by
Tony Whatley, bases its investment strategy on three principals: research, asset allocation and technology.
The Seattle-based firm does extensive research when choosing their funds' sub-advisers and also when choosing which technology firms to partner with.
In the asset allocation category, "we are very tough on our sub-advisers in order to maintain style purity ,"
Dan Yeung, senior investment officer at Accessor, told
The MFWire.
The Accessor Funds are currently distributed mainly through regional banks and trust companies, though three years ago they also got into the broker dealer channel. On the agenda for future distribution are wirehouses and DC plans.
On the list of Accessor's carefully selected sub-advisers you can find familiar names like State Street, Intech, BlackRock and Acadian.
Down the road, Accessor plans to look into the global tactical asset allocation and long short strategies within mutual funds, said Yeung.
