A rule that would require money managers to unbundle commissions will likely be proposed, just not anytime in the near future.
Traders Magazine reports that SEC Chairman Christopher Cox told attendees at the Mutual Fund Directors Forum that the commission would "consider whether fund boards could better assess soft dollar arrangements if the commission were to mandate better disclosure of the research and brokerage services that the adviser gets in return for a bundled commission." He added that the industry should not expect said changes anytime soon.
