JPMorgan Funds has hired
David Kelly as chief market strategist. That post, last held by
Jonathan Gollub, had been vacant for six months, said JPMorgan spokesperson Kristen Batteria. Kelly was previously a senior economic adviser at
Putnam Investments. A Putnam spokesperson was not immediately available to comment on how Kelly's duties are being handled. In his new job at JPMorgan, Kelly will share his views on the markets to financial advisors and U.S. investors.
NEW YORK, Jan. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- JPMorgan Funds, the U.S. mutual fund business of JPMorgan Asset Management, announced that David Kelly, Ph.D,
formerly Economic Advisor for Putnam Investments in Boston, will become its
Chief Market Strategist based in New York.
As Chief Market Strategist, Dr. Kelly will communicate his views on the
markets to financial advisors and U.S. investors. His commentary will be
delivered through distribution of JP Morgan's Market Insight series, as
well as through nationwide speaking engagements, conference calls and media
activity.

Funds business and his specific experience in the mutual fund industry will
help us deliver market views in a relevant, targeted way that resonates
with financial advisors," said George Gatch, President and CEO of JPMorgan
Funds.
Dr. Kelly is an experienced strategist, having spent the last 8 years
as a senior economic advisor at Putnam Investments. Prior to Putnam, Dr.
Kelly as served as an advisor/economist with SPP Investment Management,
Primark Decision Economics, Lehman Brothers and others. Dr. Kelly is a
frequent guest on CNBC, CNN and is quoted often in mainstream financial and
industry press.
Dr. Kelly is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a B.A. in Economics from University College in Dublin, an M.A. in Economics from
Michigan State University and a Ph.D in Economics from Michigan State
University.
