Competition in the mutual fund market and the proliferation of other green funds has led fund companies to do some wacky things to stand out in the crowd.
Yesterday,
DWS Scudder decided to get environmentally focused by going to the arid Mediterranean climate of Beverly Hills and dumping 25 tons of snow on a section of Rodeo Drive. Ice sculptures and snowboarders were featured at the event as well.
On hand at the event were
Philipp Hensler, CEO and chairman, DWS Scudder Distributors,
Mark Fulton, Deutsche Bank Asset Management’s climate change strategist, and
Antonio Galloni, Director and senior product specialist on
DWS Climate Change Fund.
The event was the kick-off of Scudder's nationwide road show to raise awareness of investment opportunities related to climate change, namely the DWS Climate Change Fund.
Not far afield that night, a
snowstorm -- this time courtesy of Mother Nature not Mother Scudder -- shut down Interstate 5 in the Tejon Pass north of Los Angeles.
