John Spence takes on the question of demand for actively managed ETFs. Spence takes the stance that these actively managed products may have problems drumming up interest among investors even though they have already captured the media's mindshare. With no star fund managers behind most of the ETFs that will in the end rely on the manager's stock-picking skills,and no established track records, Spence thinks companies that offer these products have their marketing work cut out for them.
