Pioneer Hires Another Former MFS Exec

Pioneer has hired another MFS executive in is effort to build out its institutional team. Jack O’Connor has been tapped by Pioneer as the new head of its U.S institutional business, a newly created position. He was formerly the senior vice president and director of North American sales and consultant relations at MFS Investment Management.

Boston-based Pioneer has recently been making an effort to build out its institutional business. Last September, Pioneer made two high profile institutional hires: Ray Dutcher as the director of U.S. Institutional Client Service and Michael De Feo as senior consultant relations manager.

Boston, Massachusetts – Pioneer Investments today announced that John F. (Jack) O’Connor has joined the company as Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Institutional, effective April 28, 2008. In this newly created position Mr. O’Connor is responsible for managing Pioneer Investments’ institutional business in the U.S., including the Sales, Client Service, Consultant Relations, and related support staff.

Mr. O’Connor has 14 years of experience in the institutional investment business. Prior to joining Pioneer, he was Senior Vice President and Director of North American Sales and Consultant Relations at MFS Investment Management in Boston. In this position, Mr. O’Connor played a key role in leading MFS’s institutional business in the U.S.

Mr. O’Connor leads an experienced group of 11 professionals in Pioneer’s U.S. institutional team, and will coordinate closely with the global institutional organization. He reports to Dan Kingsbury and Paul Price.

Prior to MFS, Mr. O’Connor spent two years as Vice President of Marketing and Client Services at Franklin Portfolio Associates in Boston. He joined Franklin from BankBoston where he worked as a Vice President in the Asset Management Group and Securities Department Sales. Prior to BankBoston, Jack was an Area Sales Manager at Oce-USA after starting his career as an Account Manager at the Xerox Corporation.

Jack O’Connor graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Economics (1982). After graduation, he served for three years as an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps.
