Are 130/30 mutual funds worth the hype? Writing in Monday's Wall Street Journal, Tom Lauricella claims that "most individuals are better off sticking to plain-vanilla funds." "Most 130/30 funds are trailing their benchmarks," Lauricella writes. He also takes swipes at the managers of the Fidelity 130/30 Large Cap Fund and the RiverSource 130/30 U.S Equity Fund, for "little short-selling experience" and stock-picking performance, respectively.
