Janus Capital is prepping a proprietary fund-of-funds as part of its effort to crack the advisor-sold channel. The Denver firm plans to make the
Janus Adviser Modular Portfolio Construction Fund available in Class A, C, I and S shares, according to the June 20
filing.
The fund will invest mainly in other Janus mutual funds, and may also invest in individual securities. In essence, the new fund is a pre-packaged offering of Janus' lineup that caters to the "I need help" crowd served by financial advisors.
Brokers selling the funds to investors will be able to point those clients to some of the famous, historically direct-sold funds carrying the Janus brand that are currently closed to new investors.
Those closed funds in which Modular Portfolio Construction will invest in include Janus Twenty, Janus Overseas and Janus Venture.
