Less than a year after rejoining
Fidelity,
Larry Renfro has left the Boston Behemoth to take a job at UnitedHealth Group. Renfro, a senior Fidelity executive in the '80s who returned to the company last May (see
The MFWire, 05/06/08), was president of Fidelity's Developing Businesses and a member of the Fidelity executive committee.
Fidelity has no plans to replace him on the executive committee. The firm will announce shortly where the operations that had been part of Renfro's organization will report to, according to a Fidelity spokesman.
Renfro reported to Fidelity president
Rodger Lawson and oversaw Fidelity HR Services, Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company, Fidelity Charitable Services and the company's corporate business development unit, which is responsible for acquisition activities and new business initiatives.
He will become executive vice president at UnitedHealth and CEO of Ovations, United Health's seniors health business.
Renfro was with Fidelity in a number of senior posts from 1981 to 1988 then went on to work for
State Street Bank and
Allmerica Financial. He also served as chairman and CEO of
NewRiver and president and CEO of
AARP Services before returning to Fidelity in the spring of last year.
