The
Johnsons on both the East and West coasts are on
Forbes Magazine's
2009 list of the world's billionaires released Wednesday night.
Abby Johnson, president of personal and workplace investing at
Fidelity Investments came in at No. 35, with a net worth of $10 billion.
Johnson, 47, ranked 43rd last year, with $15 billion.
Franklin Resources chairman
Charles Johnson placed 261th, with $2.5 billion. The 76-year-old was No. 227 last year, with $4.5 billion.
His half-brother,
Rupert Johnson Jr., who serves as vice chairman of the San Mateo, California-based company, was No. 305 on the list, with $2.2 billion. The 67-year-old ranked 284th last year, with $3.8 billion.
Besides the three, other names with mutual fund connections include Canada's
Paul Desmarais, Sr., patriarch of
Power Corp., whose Power Financial Corp. subsidiary owns
Putnam Investments. Desmarais was No. 246, with $2.6 billion. Also on the list is
Gordon Getty, heir to the Getty oil fortune and backer of
Forward Management. Getty placed 334th, with $2 billion.
The number of billionaires shrank from 1,125 last year to 793.
