American Funds plans to merge two money market funds,
Cash Management Trust of America and
U.S. Treasury Money Fund of America, into a new money fund,
American Funds Money Market Fund, according to a recent
SEC filing. If approved by shareholders, the reorganization is expected to be completed in the summer.
The Los Angeles-based fund firm also plans to convert the
Tax-Exempt
Money Fund of America from a money market fund to a short-term tax-exempt bond fund. If greenlighted by shareholders, the change is expected to be completed in the summer, too.
