Joe Mansueto is eying an expansion beyond the mutual fund arena. Mansueto told
Crain's Chicago Business that he wants to make the company the "premier database" for the world's investors. In the past 18 months, Morningstar has added nine new companies to its portfolio, eight of which are data providers. As Mansueto expands his empire, he will increasingly come up against the two juggernauts of the financial data providing industry,

Thomson Reuters Corp.
