According to George Mannes' latest Money & Main St. blog entry on CNNMoney.com, Barack and Michelle Obama own shares of only a single mutual fund, Vanguard FTSE Social Index (of total of between $115,000 and $250,000 spread between three retirement accounts). Otherwise, the bulk of the Obama family's assets lies in U.S. Treasuries (between $1.05 million and $5.1 million).
