Monetta Taps a New Sub-Advisor

Reported by Ann Walker

Monetta Financial Services just gave the Monetta Intermediate Bond Fund a makeover. An official with Wheaton, Illinois-based Monetta confirmed that, two months after the departure of prior sub-advisor Belle Haven, Orion Capital Management took over management of the fund on June 1. Monetta also re-branded the fund as the Orion/Monetta Bond Fund.

"Our primary goal is to create a 'Best in Class' family of funds," Monetta president Robert Bacarella stated in a release.

The Monetta official told MFWire in a follow-up interview that Monetta advised the fund internally in the interim between Belle Haven's departure and Orion's arrival.

"There was a mutually agreed upon decision," the official said, adding that Monetta had been "not very happy with their [Belle Haven's] advising performance."
