John Hancock Funds is targeting to bring in $8 billion of sales this year, said Keith Hartstein, president and CEO, in an interview with The MFWire.

Last year, Hancock generated $6.5 billion of fund sales and in 2008, it generated $8.5 billion.

The Boston-based fund firm has a total of 141 salespeople, of whom 110 are in the retail group. There are 17 employees in the consulting services group and 14 in the institutional sales group.
