After re-thinking its expansion plans in North Carolina last year amid the economic environment,
Fidelity now appears to be moving forward with the expansion.
“Fidelity is planning for incremental growth beyond the capacity we have at our existing data center facility,” Fidelity spokesman
Vin Loporchio told
The MFWire on Thursday.
This marks a change in Fidelity's tone from early last year, when a company spokesperson told a local paper: "We are just stepping back and taking a look at our long-term needs ... in light of the fact that circumstances have changed."
Fidelity in 2006 announced an expansion in the Research Triangle campus and as of February 2009, added 1,400 jobs in RTP.
Fidelity bought 269 acres in RTP in 2006, then purchased a 155,000-square-foot data center at a second RTP site in 2007.
