Outgoing Fidelity president Rodger Lawson's exit interviews with the media on Wednesday have sparked a fresh round of speculation on Fidelity's future.

The 63-year-old Lawson, who plans to retire at the end of the quarter, told Reuters that Fidelity "may be multiple companies" at some point. Exactly what he means by that is anyone's guess.
