According to the report which was made by ABC News' chief political correspondent George Stephanopoulos, Clinton was involved in surgery that may be a part of a stent procedure. He was admitted to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital.
Subsequent reports were that Clinton had earlier visited his cardiologist complaining of chest pains and that the stent procedure followed that appointment.
ABC News added that Clinton is in "good cheer" at the hospital.
Just last week Clinton addressed the TD Ameritrade Institutional Conference along with former President George W. Bush. The event marked the first time the two former presidents had jointly appeared as speakers in the United States.
The Clinton/Bush address to TD Ameritrade's advisors was an "off-the-record" talk from which reporters were barred.
