It is not a new lease on life, but it is a ray of hope for beleaguered giant Merrill Lynch. Eliot Spitzer, New York State's Attorney General, and the firm have agreed to extend their talks until May 16 and thus postpone a court hearing scheduled for tomorrow, according to an article in
The Boston Globe. The AG was looking into issues surrounding conflicts of interest at the fund company. He is even threatening criminal charges.
