Harvard Says No to Pozen

by: Sean Hanna, Editor in Chief

The local Boston papers are reporting that ex-Fidelity honcho Robert Pozen is a little miffed that his book was rejected by the Harvard Business School. That is not stopping the ties between Harvard and Pozen from deepening though, as he is taking a position as the John Olin visiting professor at the Harvard Law School.

The professorship will enable Pozen to teach two courses at the law school. One of the courses will focus on the relations between corporations and their boards. The second course, to be taught next Spring, will cover the mutual fund business. Pozen will likely use his book as a text in that course just as he used it in a Kennedy School of Government at Harvard this past Spring.

But the Harvard Business School has let Pozen know that he will not be able to use his text there in another similar course. The school builds coursework around case studies and says that it is not making an exception for the Pozen book.

Pozen claims that about 40 schools now use his book as a part of coursework.
