Citizens Funds has promoted Jeffrey J. Schappe to the newly created position as senior vice president and chief investment officer, Val Dingle, vice president of marketing with the firm, told the MutualFundWire.com. Schappe will report to Sophia Collier, chair of the company. He will be responsible for overseeing all equity and fixed-income portfolio management and trading activities, as well as fundamental and social research, including shareholder activism initiatives. He is portfolio manager of the Citizens Small Cap Core Growth and Citizens Emerging Growth Funds and provides oversight for Citizens’ entire family of funds.

Schappe, 41, joined Citizens last May as vice president, director of research. Prior to joining Citizens Funds, Schappe was senior vice president and director of equity research at George K. Baum & Co. and a senior portfolio manager at Conseco Capital Management.
