Oppenheimer Capital Loses Five to TCP

Jerry Thunelius, head of fixed income at Oppenheimer Capital and four team members have hopped over to TCP Global Investment Management, according to a release.

Thunelius and senior portfolio managers Michael Allen and Martin Fetherston began managing TCP's new fixed income strategies yesterday. Oppenheimer vet Brad Goldman is taking over as TCP's managing director, fixed income marketing and client services.

An unnamed source told Investment News' Jessica Toonkel Marquez that the team's departure marked a "huge blow" to Oppenheimer.

RADNOR, PA, March 25, 2010 — TCP Global Investment Management LLC (“TCP Global”), an SEC registered investment advisory firm, today announced the launch of their fixed income strategies, including Core, Core Plus, and other products (collectively, the “fixed income strategies”) led by Jerry Thunelius who joins TCP Global as Managing Partner, Head of Fixed Income effective March 24, 2010.

Jerry Thunelius has over 20 years of broad fixed income investment experience in managing Core, Core Plus and other fixed income strategies. Most recently, he served as the Director of Fixed Income Management at Oppenheimer Capital, an independent unit of Allianz Global Investors. Prior to this, Mr. Thunelius was the Chief Investment Officer at Gartmore Morely Financial and previously led the long-term taxable fixed income group at The Dreyfus Corporation.

The fixed income team includes senior portfolio managers Michael Allen and Martin Fetherston, together bringing an average of 20 years experience. In addition, Brad Goldman, Managing Director, Fixed Income Marketing and Client Service, joins TCP Global after almost 22 years with the Oppenheimer Capital unit of Allianz Global Investors.
