Gale Sayers, an NFL Hall of Famer who played for the Chicago Bears, has left his post on the board for American Century's domestic and international equity funds, Morningstar's Courtney Goethals Dobrow reports.

Sayers, who had been on the board for 10 years, stepped down from the post due to time commitments of his business and philanthropic efforts.

The independent directors will get together to discuss Sayers' replacement.
