Bob Reynolds a Pittsburgh Steelers fan before he was a New England Patriots fan. That's just one of the tidbits
revealed today in the
Boston Herald's profile of the
Putnam CEO, celebrating the beginning of his third year atop the Boston-based mutual fund firm. (Reynolds took over Putnam on July 1, 208.)
Fundsters in more of Reynolds' story, in particular his love of and experience with sports, may want to read the full article. It turns out that, prior to becoming a top exec in the mutual fund and retirement plan industries, Reynolds spent years refereeing high school and college basketball and football games.
"I definitely think officiating helped, because you were always faced with the idea that you had to make a call and a decision over a very short period of time," Reynolds told the Herald. "There wasn't a lot of time to deliberate and also, too, that there are a lot of fans at the game voicing their opinion on your officiating. So I think it taught a lot of things about decision-making and not getting ruffled or not feeling the pressure making the, but doing it and moving on."
