Of the Big Three in the ETF market, only
Vanguard Group [
see profile] saw its market share grow during the first six months of the year. Vanguard's market share grew 1.5 percent, from 11.8 percent to 13.3 percent. The Valley Forge, Pennsylvania-based firm had $102.56 billion of assets in 46 ETFs. The numbers are included in
State Street Global Advisors' ETF Snapshot: June 2010 report.
BlackRock, which owns iShares, saw its share of the market go down 1.3 percent, from 48 percent to 46.7 percent. BlackRock had $360.3 billion of assets in 205 ETF products at the close of June.
For its part, SSgA saw its market share fall 0.3 percent,
from 24.3 percent to 24 percent. SSgA ended June with $185.1 billion of assets in 92 ETFs.
The Big Three accounted for 84 percent of the US-listed ETF market.
At the end of June, there were a total 33 ETF managers and $772 billion of assets in 897 ETFs.
