Is McColgan Coming Back from the Beach?

News summary by MFWire's editors

When a top executive who qualifies for a nice package departs from a job, headhunters (o.k. executive recruiters), like to say that they are "at the beach." That is where former Fidelity-top dog Ellyn McColgan has been since leaving Jamie Gorman's gang at Morgan Stanley more than a year ago.

McColgan is not off the beach yet. In fact, she has just gained a new gig in financial services that promises to not over tax her time while keeping the suntan lotion flowing. Yesterday Primerica revealed that she has joined its board of directors.

McColgan, who ultimately led distribution and operations at Fidelity [see profile], most recently served as president and chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley's wirehouse, a post she started in April 2008.

Based in Duluth, Georgia, Primerica distributes insurance and mutual funds via about 100,000 reps. The former Citigroup subsidiary spun off and went public on March 31.

The AP covered McColgan's appointment.
