In Monday's
Wall Street Journal Fund Track column, Kelly Nolan casts the spotlight on
Thornburg Investment Management's Chris Ryon. Ryon is one of the PMs of the
Thornburg Strategic Municipal Income Fund.
The fund is up 5.8 percent year-to-date, beating its benchmark, the BarCap Municipal TR USD, by 1.2 percentage points and its category by about two percentage points, notes the WSJ, citing Morningstar data.
Nolan also writes that Ryon and his co-managers,
Josh Gonze and
George Strickland, do not shy away from buying a few nonrated bonds if the price is right and the fundamentals are there.
