Goldman Sachs [see profile] tapped Jim O'Neill as chairman of its asset management division, the Wall Street Journal reports. The role is newly created.

O'Neill has been with Goldman since 1995 and will stay in London.

In other GSAM news, Eileen Rominger will retire from her post as global chief investment officer at yearend, Pensions & Investments reports. Goldman will not appoint a replacement.
