Investors in Vanguard's Variable Insurance Fund have a trio of new choices. The Valley Forge, Pennsylvania fund giant filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the Capital Growth Portfolio, Total Stock Market Index Portfolio and Small-Cap Index Portfolio.

The portfolios bring the number of investment styles in the product to 16. The Vanguard Variable Annuity Plan is issued by Peoples Benefit Life Insurance Company.
