Citizens Financial Group may be back in the market now that it is done folding 345 branches it acquired from Mellon Financial into its network. The reported first target is Allfirst Financial, a unit of Allied Irish Banks.

Citizens is owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland. Its interest in the Irish bank was reported in the Irish Times. The Irish bank has branches in the mid-Atlantic region.
