Former Investment Company Institute head
Matt Fink has penned a second edition of his book,
The Rise of Mutual Funds: An Insider's View.
The new edition includes Fink's analysis of the impact of the 2008 financial crisis on mutual funds.
Fink served as the ICI's president from 1991 to 2004. He spent a total of 33 years with the mutual fund trade organization.
Fink notes in the book that although mutual funds were hit hard by the crisis, they fared better than hedge funds, banks and securities firms that employed leverage greater than what is allowed for mutual funds.
He also covers the tightening of money market fund regulation in the wake of the
Reserve YieldPlus Fund breaking the buck in September 2008.
The first edition of the book came out in October 2008.
The new edition also includes Fink's thoughts on the most important event
in fund history, the worst event in fund history and the most important person
in fund history.
Oxford University Press is the publisher.
