Thomas Cameron, senior portfolio manager of the
Rising Dividend Growth Fund [see profile], is
reportedly posting strong returns by betting on companies that have raised their dividends by an average of 10 percent annually for at least 10 straight years.
The strategy, which the $90 million fund has dubbed the 10-10 test, has resulted in the fund outperforming the S&P 500-stock index by 3.7 percentage points in 2010 and by 11 percentage points in 2008.
The fund currently avoids the financial sector but is bullish energy, with a particular focus on master-limited partnerships -- entities that own and operate oil-and-gas assets, distribute all their income to shareholders and aren't taxed at corporate rates.
