Legg Mason affiliate ClearBridge Advisors promoted its chief operting oficer Terrence Murphy to president.

He assumes his new role from Peter Sundman, who remains CEO of the firm, P&I reports.

Murphy joined the firm in 2006 from Citigroup Asset Management where he served as director of planning and analysis and later became the firm's chief financial officer in 2005.
