Despite stories to the contrary,
Janus insists that it was not downgraded by
one of its own analysts. The
Denver Business Journal's Heather Draper
follows up on an
American Banking & Market News story (no
longer
viewable
online) from yesterday that a Janus analyst actually changed from a neutral to an
under-perform rating for the Denver-based mutual fund firm.
"None of our analysts rate our stock," a Janus spokesman told the Journal. "We can't
own it in our mutual fund portfolios, so there's no reason to rate it."
Separately,
Dow Jones reports that
Bank of America Merrill Lynch downgraded Janus
to underperform, worrying about performance, Intech "outflows" and possible negative
performance fees.
