Bill Carey just took another directorial post, this time outside the mutual fund world.
Bates Magazine's Bryan McNulty
reports that the Bank of America, Fidelity and
OppenheimerFunds alum recently joined Lewiston, Maine-based Bates College's board of trustees. (Carey lives in Lincoln, Massachusetts.)
Fundsters may not be surprised by the move, as Bill Carey and his wife, Scarlett Halsted Carey, are both Bates alumni from the class of 1982.
This new appointment follows Carey's move last summer to join the board of directors for mutual fund data specialist and Mercatus subsidiary
Financial Research Corporation (see
The MFWire, 8/24/2010).
Before joining FRC's board, Carey briefly served as head of distribution at MassMutual subsidiary OppenheimerFunds, and he spent two years as managing director of distribution and relationship management in the institutional retirement, philanthropy and investments division of Bank of America. Prior to that, he spent 14 years at Fidelity, where his jobs over the years included running what are now Fidelity Workplace Investing and Fidelity Institutional Wealth Services.
