This month DoubleLine Capital [see profile] is tallying record mutual fund inflows even as it fights in court with TCW. DoubleLine Funds president Ron Redell confirmed that the Los Angeles-based mutual fund firm has brought in approximately $1.5 billion in net inflows in August, crushing its prior $1 billion record from May.
"It's been an incredibly strong month for us," Redell told MFWire.com. "The financial advisor community and individual investors have seen DoubleLine as this lighthouse in the storm."
Of its $15 billion in total assets, Jeff Gundlach and his team at DoubleLine now boast about $11 billion in their mutual fund family, including $10 billion in Gundlach's flagship Total Return Bond Fund (DLTNX).

Mutual fund investing involves risk. Principal loss is possible.
Investments in debt securities typically decrease when interest rates rise.
This risk is usually greater for longer-term debt securities. Investments in Asset-Backed and Mortgage-Backed securities include additional risks that investor should be aware of including credit risk, prepayment risk, possible illiquidity and default, as well as increased susceptibility to adverse economic developments. Investments in lower rated and non-rated securities present a great risk of loss to principal and interest than higher rated securities.
