Greg Johnson's pay rose 47 percent to $9.9 million for the fiscal year that ended September 30, 2011, according to an
SEC filing picked up by
Bloomberg.

The filing notes that the San Mateo, California-based asset manager chalked up long-term sales of $220.8 billion, up 17 percent over the record sales of $188.5 billion in the 2010 fiscal year.
Franklin's executive vice president of global distribution,
Vijay Advani, saw total
compensation rise to $5.78 million from $3.78 million in 2010.
Chief operating officer
Jennifer Johnson, sister of Greg, received compensation of $3.38 million, up from $2.81 million the year before.
Shares of Franklin Resources were down 11 percent in the year ended September 30. The 20-member S&P index of asset managers and custody banks
saw a decline of 19 percent, according to Bloomberg.
