BlackRock on Wednesday launched an advertising and education campaign aimed at helping investors navigate volatile markets. The multi-media effort, dubbed "Investing for a New World," is the first of its kind by the New York City-based asset management giant, company officials said.
BlackRock's press release did not state how much the firm is spending on the global campaign.
As the campaign was launching, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink
gave a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York on Wednesday.
The Wall Street Journal's Total Return personal finance blog, was one of the media outlets that picked up on his remarks.
Fink told the audience that wherever he goes, he is constantly asked by investors what they should do with their money and his answer has always been for them
to get off the sidelines.
"We must, at every level, turn savers into investors,” the Total Return blog quotes
him as saying.
BlackRock kicked off its campaign with a four-page insert in major media outlets.
It has also built a Web site,
www.blackrock.com/newworld.
