Beantown fundsters may get to see Ned and Abby Johnson in the flesh tonight. George Donnelly of the Boston Business Journal reports that the father-daughter duo behind Fidelity [profile] will accept an award from the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by expected applause from about 1,500 attendees.

Donnelly says the mutual fund magnates will be inducted to the Chamber's Academy of Distinguished Bostonians for their contribution "to the greater good of the region."

Donnelly praises Neds decision to "lead in a trademark spartan, no -baloney fashion." Both Ned and Abby are famously light on public appearances and interviews, rarely taking the spotlight away from their company.

The award which will be given at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
